Suspect sought after theft at Vernon store

On Aug. 22 at about 5:30 p.m., a man walked into the Lakeview Market on 32nd Avenue.

A suspect is being sought after a theft at a Vernon store.

On Aug. 22 at about 5:30 p.m., a man walked into the Lakeview Market on 32nd Avenue.

“The suspect had covered his face with a white T-shirt and he wore yellow gloves,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

He unsuccessfully attempted to open the cast register and then stole two donation canisters from the counter. One is a pink can and the other had a plastic box shape.

A witness told police officers that the suspect left the area on a bicycle and was last seen by the  Vernon Music School.

Surveillance video at the store has been reviewed by the RCMP and a photo of the suspect has been released.

“Perhaps someone may recognize the individual,” said Molendyk.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, about 40 years old, five-foot-five and wearing a camouflage baseball cap, a long sleeve, grey T-shirt and grey shorts with a dark stripe.
