Suspicious Lake Country package turns out to be clock

An alarm clock caused a bit of alarm in Lake Country Wednesday morning

An alarm clock caused a bit of alarm in Lake Country Wednesday morning.

Lake Country RCMP and other emergency responders were called at 7:40 a.m. to the Lake Country Post Office in the 3200 block of Berry Road to deal with a suspicious package.

“Post office employees had detected a beeping sound coming from a parcel the size of a book,” said RCMP spokesperson Sgt Wade Seversen.

“The employees moved the parcel to the outside rear of the post office prior to emergency services attending. The investigation and subsequent examination by police revealed a normal alarm clock being mailed legitimately to a resident of Lake Country.”

RCMP would like to remind anyone finding a suspicious package to clear the area of people and leave the parcel where it is found. If it is a legitimate device, movement could set it off.
