Another suspicious fire is under investigation in Vernon.
Firefighters were called to a car fire at a condominium complex on 28th Street Wednesday at 4:50 a.m.
“It’s under investigation and is probably suspicious,” said Jack Blair, deputy fire chief.
“The vehicle was towed to a yard and the RCMP will have a look at it.”
The owner of the vehicle attempted to extinguish the blaze before the firefighters arrived.
Damage was contained to the passenger seat and door panel.
“There’s not a lot of damage but the car is likely a write-off,” said Blair.
This is just the latest suspicious fire in Vernon, which has included a playground and the exterior of a vacant downtown building.
“It’s a huge concern,” said Blair, adding that it’s not known if there is a connection between the incidents.
Not only can fires spread to adjacent structures, the smouldering material can pose a health risk to emergency personnel and residents.
“When you look at the things used in manufacturing vehicles, this stuff can be deadly,” said Blair.
