Three people have been arrested in connection with a drug rip in Lumby.

And the suspects are somewhat surprising.

Individuals forcibly broke into a home on Grandview Avenue on March 27 and stole marijuana plants that were being cultivated under a license from Health Canada.

Lumby RCMP investigated and proposed charges of break, enter and theft were recommended against three individuals: one is a youth from Lumby; the other two are a mother (aged 44) and son (aged 20) from Vernon.

“In my 36 years of policing, I have never come across this before,” said Lumby RCMP Cpl. Henry Proce.

Crown counsel approved the charges against the trio.

The matter is now before the courts.
