Three taken to hospital in Vernon accident

Three people were taken to VJH Thursday with serious injuries following a head-on collision on Highway 97 near the army camp

Three people were taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with serious injuries following a head-on collision on Highway 97 near the Vernon Army Camp Thursday morning.

The accident occurred after 9 a.m.

“The drivers of the vehicles, one man and one woman, and one passenger, were taken to hospital with serious injuries,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

“The drivers had to be extracted from their vehicles with the Jaws of Life.”

Preliminary indications are a southbound SUV driven by a man who had one passenger, crossed over the centre line and collided with a northbound SUV, driven by a woman, the sole occupant of her vehicle.

The file remains under investigation.
