Thunderstorm forecast for North Okanagan

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms

There could be some booming in the skies above the North Okanagan Tuesday.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms late this afternoon that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

"Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors," states a release.

"Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall."

The forecast says there will be increasing cloudiness Tuesday morning, then a 60 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms late this afternoon. The high is expected to reach 24.
