A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for parts of the Okanagan.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” said Environment Canada, who announced the watch at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12.
Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, Vernon, Salmon Arm, Sicamous, and Kamloops all have the effect in place.
When a thunderstorm develops, intense lightning could occur and heavy downpour can cause pooling on roads and flash flooding.
There is no estimate as to when the thunderstorm watch will end.
