Vernon will host three sports championships as a result of $30,000 in provincial funding.

Hosting B.C. funds will provide $5,000 to Curl B.C. for the provincial men’s curling championship Feb. 7 to 13, $15,000 to the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club for the Masters World Cup March 3 to 11 and $10,000 to the B.C. Lacrosse Association for the minor box lacrosse provincial championships July 6 to 24.

“Hosting events like these provide an excellent opportunity for us to show our hospitality and encourage tourism in our area,” said Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster.

“The events being funded will also be fun for families and help to get our children interested in sports.”
