The Township of Spallumcheen is working ahead of Thursday’s anticipated thunderstorm.

The township has upgraded its Emergency Operations Centre to Level 2 as of Wednesday.

The EOC is located at the township municipal office, 4144 Spallumcheen Way in consultation with the provincial EOC.

According to Environment Canada, there is currently a thunderstorm watch for the Okanagan forecast for early Thursday afternoon that could impact the area.

“The township will continually assess Environment Canada reports for extreme weather,” said a press release issued by the municipalilty Wednesday afternoon.

A town hall meeting will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the municipal office to discuss potential provincial funding for those seriously affected by flooding. Please see information on the township website – www.spallumcheentwp.bc.ca – under News.

EMERGENCIES – LIFE & SAFETY

Emergency calls from Spallumcheen residents are to be provided to 250-546-3013 (life and

safety only at this time).

NON-EMERGENCY

Spallumcheen resident non-emergency flooding concerns may be emailed to the township’s Emergency Operation Centre at eoc@spallumcheentwp.bc.ca. If water is not a threat to structures, the township requests that residents wait for water to naturally dissipate as resources are limited.

SANDBAG STATIONS

SPALLUMCHEEN RESIDENTS

The following locations have sand and bags available for Spallumcheen residents (bring your own shovel). All residents are encouraged to protect their infrastructure during times of spring freshet.

STATION #1 – 1511 Eagle Rock Road (Public Works Yard - southern entrance);

STATION #2 – McLeod Park (East side of park on Sidney Crescent);
