Three horses were killed on Westside Road after being struck by a pick-up truck.

RCMP officers from the rural detachment responded Saturday at 12:10 a.m. to a report of a motor-vehicle accident between a truck and three horses in the area of Pinecrest Road and Westside Road.

“The truck had major front-end damage and air bags were deployed,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “A witness told our officers the driver of the truck was uninjured, and he left the scene in another vehicle.”

Two of the horses died right away and a third that was seriously injured and was suffering had to be put down.

Police are still investigating this file as the registered owner of the truck, from Squamish, has not been spoken to yet.
