The Environment Canada snowfall warning in effect now includes the Central Okanagan.
Up to 10 centimetres of snow is expected in the Kelowna area.
“A period of heavy snow is expected tonight as an intense Pacific warm front moves through. The snow is expected to ease overnight,” writes Environment Canada.
“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”
Motorists are being warned to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

The snow has begun to fall throughout the Okanagan and Shuhswap region.
Environment Canada is reminding motorists that a snowfall warning and winter storm warning are in effect for the area.
“A long period of snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected,” says Environment Canada.
“An intense Pacific warm front is spreading snow to the southern interior. The snow is forecast to become heavy at times tonight before easing on Thursday morning.”
Treacherous driving conditions are anticipated in and out of the region on all major highways including Highway 1, Highway 97, Highway 97C, Highway 3 and Highway 5.

Yesterday's snowfall weather statement has been upgraded to a snowfall warning by Environment Canada.
Meteorologists warn that the Shuswap, Salmon Arm, Vernon, the North Okanagan and the highway mountain passes will be hit with a long period of snowfall and stormy winter conditions.
Environment Canada says 15 to 25 centimetres is expected in those northern areas.
“An intense Pacific warm front will spread snow to the southern interior late today. The snow is forecast to become heavy at times tonight through Thursday,” explains Environment Canada.
While a specific snowfall warning is in place for the North Okanagan, Shuswap and North Thompson regions, a more serious winter storm warning is in effect for the highways.
The warning includes the Trans-Canada Highway - Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, the Coquihalla Highway - Hope to Merritt and Highway 3 - Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass.
“Hazardous winter conditions are expected,” says Environment Canada.
“An intense Pacific warm front will bring heavy snow to the routes tonight and Thursday where 24-hour total snowfall amounts of 50 to 70 cm are expected.”

Don't let today's sunshine fool you, we're about to get hit with a bunch more snow.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall weather statement for the Vernon, North Okanagan and Shuswap regions.
Meteorologists warn that a warm front combined with Arctic air will bring the next significant round of snow beginning Wednesday evening and continuing into Thursday.
“Snowfall accumulations of 10 centimetres are expected Wednesday night with potential for an additional 10 cm on Thursday for the northern Okanagan, Shuswap and North Thompson regions,” reports Environment Canada.
