The victim of yesterday's crash has been identified by friends on social media as Al Boucher, the former owner of the Blue Canoe Bakery and Cafe in Salmon Arm. Boucher was also the past president of the Salmon Arm Slow-Pitch League.

A 39-year-old Salmon Arm man lost his life early Friday morning along the Trans-Canada Highway.
About 3 a.m., Salmon Arm RCMP and traffic service officers responded to a semi versus pick-up truck collision on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Salmon Arm, near Cedar Drive in the Blind Bay area.
“Investigation has thus far revealed a westbound pick-up truck crossed over the centre line into the path of an eastbound semi,” explains Cpl. Mike Wasylenki with the Trans Canada East Traffic Services out of Revelstoke.
“The lone driver/occupant of the truck, a 39-year-old Salmon Arm area male, was ejected from his truck and passed away at the scene.”
Investigation into the cause of the incident is continuing.

Drive B.C. reports that the Trans-Canada Highway 28 kilometres west of Salmon Arm has been fully opened following a vehicle accident early this morning.
As well, the highway is open 10 kilometres east of Rogers Pass, where there was another early morning crash.
To the west, as of 11:15 a.m., a rock slide 18 kilometres east of Spences Bridge to Cache Creek was reducing Highway 1 traffic to single lane, alternating.
In the Shuswap, Drive BC states that maintenance from Salmon Arm to eight kilometres west of Sicamous means there will be single lane alternating traffic on that stretch of highway until 3 p.m. today, Friday, Feb 17.
Also, bridge maintenance continues 26 kilometres east of Sicamous from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through to Tuesday, March 14. The road is reduced to single lane alternating traffic with up to 20 minutes' delay.
