A single-vehicle accident Friday night in Vernon resulted in a violation ticket for the driver.

A single-vehicle accident Friday night in Vernon resulted in a violation ticket for the driver.

Police responded to the accident Friday at 10 p.m. near the intersection of Kal Lake Road and 18th Avenue.

“A Chevy white van was in the northbound lane when it swerved and struck a power pole,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “The driver took off from the scene.”

Molendyk said the driver, a 49-year-old Vernon man, was located the next day and issued a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

The van sustained damage while the driver was not seriously injured.

The driver is not the registered owner of the vehicle, but Molendyk said the man knows the owner quite well and the van was not stolen in this case.
