Vernon's Vasek Pospisil and partner Daniel Nestor finished fourth in men's doubles tennis at the Rio Olympics.

Bragging rights – and the Olympic bronze medal – go to Vasek Pospisil’s tour partner and friend, American Jack Sock.

Pospisil and Daniel Nestor of Toronto lost the Olympic men’s doubles tennis bronze medal match Friday to Sock and American teammate Steve Johnson in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.

Pospisil and Sock, regular partners on the world tennis tour in doubles, won Wimbledon in 2014.

Nestor, a late replacement on the Canadian team for Milos Raonic, who decided to skip the Olympics, was seeking his second Olympic medal in men’s doubles.

He won gold in Sydney, Australia in 2000 with Sebasien Lereau.

Pospisil and Nestor were relegated to the bronze-medal match Thursday, losing their semifinal in straight sets, 7-6, 7-6, to Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez.

The Americans fell in straight sets to a team from Romania.
