UPDATE: Highway 97 west of Vernon reopens after vehicle incident

Highway had been closed in both directions between Westside Road and Irish Creek Road after collision

UPDATE THURSDAY, MAY 18, 1:50 p.m.:

Highway 97 west of Vernon between Westside Road and Irish Creek Road has been re-opened after the vehicle incident was cleared up.

ORIGINAL STORY

The Alertable phone app and DriveBC are indicating Highway 97 west of Vernon is closed in both directions due to a vehicle incident.

The highway is closed between St. Anne’s Road and Irish Creek Road to all traffic except emergency vehicles, according to Alertable, while DriveBC says it’s closed at Westside Road.

Social media photos show two transport trucks to be involved.

Traffic is being detoured via St. Anne’s Road and Grandview Flats Road.

The next update is slated for 1 p.m.
