Vernon RCMP are investigating a strange accident Friday afternoon where a vehicle plowed into the front of a business on 31st Street shortly after 2:30 p.m. Nobody was injured but one man was taken into custody.

A bizarre incident occurred in downtown Vernon Friday afternoon.

RCMP officers received a report just after 2:30 p.m. that a 1996 Jeep Cherokee SUV crashed into Kush Organics on 31st Street.

"Officers attended and with an accurate description of the man, centered on the fact that he was naked, caught him not too far away," said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

"The man was immediately transported to hospital for an assessment of any needed medical treatment."

The 49-year-old man was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses told The Morning Star that a man walked into the store and tried to rob the business. After getting into a confrontation with someone inside, the man was locked out of the store.

Witnesses say the man got into a vehicle, backed into the opposing alleyway across the road and then drove the Jeep into the front window of the store.

The vehicle ended up in the middle of the business.

"It is alleged that the naked man tried to rob the store and attempted twice to carjack other vehicles in order to flee the area.  Albeit a bizarre set of circumstances we are thankful that no one was injured" said Moskaluk.
