Vernon has a new senior public servant.

The City of Vernon announced Thursday that Will Pearce will start as chief administrative officer June 4.

“His experience, training, references and interviews were outstanding,” said Mayor Rob Sawatzky.

“He provides the experience and skills we were looking for. As mayor and council, we look forward to a positive, productive working relationship for the citizens of Vernon with our new CAO.”

Pearce is currently CAO in Cranbrook and he has worked for the cities of Calgary, Regina and Okotoks, Alta.

The CAO’s position became vacant in Vernon when Leon Gous re-entered the private sector at the end of December.
