One woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a motor vehicle accident Thursday night in Spallumcheen.

Just before 6:30 p.m., Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP said a 46-year-old Vernon area woman driving a Ford F150 pickup was making a left-hand turn off St. Anne’s Road onto Highway 97 when her vehicle was struck by a westbound semi truck.

“The truck had just turned onto the highway when it was struck on the front end by the semi,” said RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

The woman was taken to hospital and Noseworthy said it was believed the woman had been transported to Kelowna General Hospital where she was listed in serious condition.

The driver of the semi, a 47-year-old man, was not injured.

An RCMP reconstruction analyst attended. The highway was shut down for a short period of time while the accident was investigated.
