A Vernon company is stepping up for B.C. residents impacted by wildfires.

Chris Brown, owner/operator of CM Renovations and Interiors, will take an 18-foot trailer to Prince George Thursday evening, hoping to have it full and/or overflowing of donated items.

“The drop-off point is Cloverdale Paint (2804-44th Avenue),” said spokesperson Naomi Shaw. “People are in dire need of pillows, clothing, blankets, and essentials like toiletries, shampoos, and toothpaste.”

If Brown’s trailer is full to the rafters, Dan Marcotte, owner of a Lake Country moving company, has offered his four-ton truck and will take the excess materials.

Joe Tobin, commercial insurance broker for Capri Insurance, said his company will donate $1,000 for fuel for the trip, which will leave just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Donations can be dropped off before 6 p.m. Thursday at Cloverdale Paint in Vernon or any Capri Insurance location in Vernon, Lake Country and Kelowna.
