While Vernon council will not be convening for their regularly scheduled meeting this week, there will be a special open meeting on Thursday, June 8.

Hosted at the Lakers clubhouse ( 7000 Cummins Road) at 9 a.m., the meeting will discuss the 2024 budget, along with a review of the 2023-2027 strategic plan.

Back in May, the city put out a survey to gather residents opinion on several issues that could impact next year’s budget.

“It’s intended to help mayor and council understand the public’s priorities on various services provided by the city,” said manager of communications and grants Christy Poirier.

The survey closed on Friday, May 26. However, if you still want to have your voice heard on issues around the city, the special council meeting is open to the public.

The next general council meeting will take place Monday, June 26.
