City of Vernon employees unite against bullying Wednesday.

Vernon city hall was coloured in pink Wednesday.

Mayor Akbal Mund and staff turned out in pink as part of Pink Shirt Day, which raises funds and awareness for anti-bullying programs.

"Since 2008, more than $1.2 million has been raised nationally for anti-bullying programs as result of Pink Shirt Day T-shirts sales and donations," said Tanya Laing Gahr, the city's communications officer.

The origins of Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when two Nova Scotia teens handed out 50 pink shirts after another student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt.
