Fire roared through a home in Vernon late Monday.

Firefighters from both the Vernon and BX-Swan Lake departments responded to a call in the 1000 block of BX Road at just past 11:30 p.m.

“The fire was quite entrenched. The flames were 35 to 40 feet in the air when we got there,” said Bill Wacey, BX-Swan Lake chief.

“There was nothing we could do. It was completely gutted.”

No one was home at the time of the fire.

Vernon fire investigators are currently trying to determine the cause.
