Vernon lawyer William Mastop, 46, has been sentenced in B.C. Supreme Court Thursday in Vancouver to one year in prison for participating in the activities of a criminal organization.

Crown counsel had been seeking a term of two-and-a-half to three years in jail while defence was seeking 10-to-18-months of house arrest.

Mastop pleaded guilty in December to the charge for activities connected to a notorious North Okanagan gang called The Greeks by RCMP.
