A Vernon man is safe and sound after a Newfoundland plane crash.
On Thursday, officers with the Burin Peninsula RCMP responded to a report of an aircraft crashing into Garnish Pond, Nfld., 326 kilometres southwest of St. John’s.
“Upon arrival, police learned the aircraft was a float plane,” said Sgt. Howard Gale, with the Marystown, RCMP.
The two occupants of the plane, a 61-year-old man from Vernon and a 64-year-old man from Garnish, Nfld., were rescued by a cabin owner in the area who used a boat to bring them to shore.
Neither of the two men were injured.
“The incident is being investigated by the Transportation Safety Board,” said Gale.
