Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are reminding the public to keep a close eye out for pedestrians and vehicles after RCMP and the BC Ambulance Service were called to 43rd Avenue near 34th Street in Vernon Tuesday shortly before 4:45 p.m.
A 58-year-old male pedestrian had been crossing the road when he was struck by a car.
“Weather conditions are believed to have been a factor in the collision,” said RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy. “It was a very dark evening, and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.”
Speed is not believed to have been a factor in this accident.
The pedestrian was transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The matter is still under investigation by Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP.
