Vernon RCMP helped out Kelowna counterparts by arresting a suspect in a possible stolen vehicle matter.

Shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday, the Vernon detachment received an alert from Kelowna with respect to a stolen vehicle believed to be heading to Vernon on Highway 97.

The vehicle was described as a 1999 black Honda Civic.

“Our officers, in a couple of unmarked cars, located the vehicle and followed it until it stopped on 34th Avenue and 19th Street here in the city,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

When the suspect got out of the vehicle, members arrested him without incident.

The man, 37, from Salmon Arm, was found to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and cocaine.

He was taken into custody and was slated to make an appearance in Vernon Provincial Court.
