The Vernon RCMP is currently investigating an incident of willful damage to park property and assault on a bystander, which occurred Wednesday May 11.

Investigators would like to identify and speak to a person of interest who was present at the time of the incident in Vernon’s Polson Park.

Vernon RCMP responded shortly after 7:30 p.m. on May 11 to a report of an assault that had occurred at the south end of the park.

“Investigators are continuing their investigation and have determined that the incident unfolded as a witness took photos of individuals that were seen pulling at branches and damaging a park tree,” said RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk. “Two of three individuals turned their attention toward the complainant who was then allegedly punched in the face.”

Investigators would like to further the investigation and identify a person of interest and speak with the man that was photographed at the location.

Anybody with any information can call the Vernon detachment at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
