Two teens were sent to hospital after a serious motor vehicle accident in Vernon.
On Thursday at about 11:45 p.m., an RCMP officer was patrolling in the area of 20th Street and 48th Avenue when he came across a single-vehicle collision.
“Our officer noticed a Honda Civic was laying on the passenger side against a power pole facing westbound in that intersection,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.
“On examination of the vehicle, he found two men still inside. The driver is 17 and the 16-year-old passenger was trapped and had to be removed with the aid of the Vernon Fire Department.”
Both Vernon residents suffered serious injuries, and broken bones. They were transported by ambulance to Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
“The traffic analyst was called to assist in the investigation due to the seriousness of their injuries,” said Molendyk, adding that B.C. Hydro was also on scene to determine the integrity of the power pole.
“Officers do not suspect alcohol was a factor in their initial findings of this investigation. The file remains under investigation.”
