Vernon RCMP make drug-related arrest

Three vehicles were rammed during the incident Tuesday

Vernon RCMP have arrested an individual they describe as a prolific offender.

On Tuesday at about noon, officers located a suspect wanted on a number of outstanding charges in the 5400 block of 26th Street.

“The suspect attempted to evade capture once again,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

“This time, he rammed two private vehicles and an unmarked police van to make his escape. Damage to the three vehicles is about $5,000 and nobody was injured by his actions.”

The suspect ultimately abandoned his car in the 3400 block of 30th Street.

“While patrolling the area looking for him, one of our general duty officers spotted him about 15 minutes later in the area of 27th Street and 39th Avenue,” said Molendyk.

“The suspect took off running again. However, he was apprehended after a short foot pursuit by our officer.”

The police seized cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

The individual had already been wanted on three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

David McIntosh, 22, of Vernon, has been remanded in custody and faces charges from the outstanding warrants. The RCMP are also recommending new charges stemming from Tuesday’s incident, including three more counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, two more counts of flight from police, one count of dangerous driving and one count of breach of a court order.
