One man was arrested following a robbery Wednesday night in downtown Vernon.

Just before 10 p.m., the night clerk at the Blue Moon Esso in the 2400 block of 34th Street advised police that a robbery had just occurred.

“The female clerk stated that a lone male entered the store, advised it was a robbery, threatened her with a syringe then demanded money from the register,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

The man left the premises on foot.

He was described as wearing a black leather jacket, white shirt, beige pants, with dark hair and facial stubble.

“Our officers responded to the scene and took a look at the video surveillance tapes,” said Molendyk.

A short time later, a man matching the description was taken into custody in the parking lot near Staples, on 32nd Street.

The 29-year-old man was arrested for robbery.

He was expected to appear in Vernon Provincial Court Thursday.

The police are continuing to investigate this file.
