Vernon is lacing up towards a cure for breast cancer.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run For The Cure gets underway Sunday at Marshall Field at 10 a.m.

Those interested in taking part can register Saturday at the Vernon CIBC between 9:30 a.m. and noon, or prior to the event on Sunday, or online at http://cibcrunforthecure.supportcbcf.com/site/TR?fr_id=2517&pg=entry

The event kicks off with opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m., which will include a special presentation for long-time supporter CIBC.

“They are celebrating 20 years this year as our title sponsor,” said Talea Pecora, CBCF staff.

Following the opening ceremonies, some of the region’s bravest individuals will lead the event with the survivor’s parade.

It’s expected upwards of 150 people will be taking part in Sunday’s run, which raised $35,000 last year. But additional support is needed in the fight against breast cancer.

“We’re a little shy on help and we’re a little shy on funds,” said Pecora.

Anyone who would like to lend a hand can sign up online, email Vol_Vernon@cbcfcloud.org or call 1-844-786-2873.
