Vernon water quality advisory rescinded, break in Mission Hill area

System has returned to normal for some, while others without water

A precautionary water quality advisory has been rescinded for a handful of Vernon areas.

But some Mission Hill area residents were without water, due to a break Thursday morning.

Crews were called to the area at roughly 8 a.m. April 14 to a report of a broken water main. An estimated 25 properties experienced a temporary water service interruption while crews repaired the water main. Water service was restored by 11:30 a.m.

Meanwhile customers in the North Aberdeen, French, Pottery, East Vernon, Black Rock, Nickle, Buchanan and Binns Road areas were put on an advisory on April 8. It was lifted Thursday, April 14 since work to repair a water main has been completed and the distribution system has returned to normal.

“Follow up bacterial testing results and disinfection (chlorine) levels are within normal drinking water standards in the distribution system,” Greater Vernon Water said.

Questions can be directed to the Regional District of North Okanagan utilities department at 250-550-3700.
