Vernon’s Samantha Sewell has won the title of Miss Wordwide Teen Canada.

Vernon’s Samantha Sewell has been named Miss Wordwide Teen Canada.

Sewell's new title is with the international charity Live Out Loud, which Sewell will be representing for the next year. Sewell has also held the titles of Miss Teenage Okanagan 2015, Miss Teen Social Media 2015 and Miss Teen Galaxy Canada.

This past summer, Sewell decided she wanted to continue pageantry and find an organization which focuses on her personal platform, which is anti-bullying.  Live Out Loud Charity focuses on anti-bullying, suicide prevention and core character development.

She has already hosted a a successful Live Out Loud charity fundraiser which was an inspirational queen calendar.

Sewell, who graduated from Vernon Secondary School and Okanagan College with her education assistant certificate, is now interning for an international pageant media website, the Pageant Planet.

Sewell was born with several speech impediments and was told that she would never be able to speak like everyone else. Sewell had to communicate though pictures and sign language for the first years of school. However, Sewell’s parents kept her in speech therapy and through the process, she slowly started being able to speak.

“Though at times it felt hopeless, I beat the odds” she said.

However, Sewell was the focus of bullying at times. She was ready to leave, when a teacher phoned her house and was prepared to help.

“He is the only reason I remained in school," said the 18-year-old.

“On graduation day, I told him how much that meant to me. That phone call and that feeling that someone cared will stay with me forever. That is why I am in pageantry - in the hopes of being that inspiration that can change someone’s life."

Sewell has told her story in international magazines and will be featured in the new book, The Power of Youth.

Sewell plans to speak at schools about Live Out Loud.
