Victim identified in Cherryville farm death

Man died after a cow became agitated and aggressive

The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died on a Cherryville farm July 1.

Allen Donald Powder, 49, was from Yellowknife, N.W.T., but who was working on the farm when the incident occurred.

“Mr. Powder and another man were working, transferring some cows from one corral to another,” said Larry Marzinzik, regional coroner.

“One of the cows became agitated and aggressive. The cow turned on Mr. Powder and butted him with its head. He ran a short distance and climbed over a fence, but then  collapsed and could not be resuscitated.

The B.C. Coroners Service and WorkSafeBC continue to investigate the incident.
