Westside bandstand funded

Money will go to a multi-use bandstand and picnic shelter at Westshore Estates Community Park.

North Westside residents will soon have a new place to come together.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has approved $101,500 from the federal/provincial gas tax fund to construct a multi-use bandstand and picnic shelter at Westshore Estates Community Park.

“It’s a great step for us as a community,” said director Wayne Carson.

Carson anticipates the bandstand will become a focal point for a number of events.

“We have a lot of musicians in the community and they like to come together,” he said.

It’s anticipated construction could be completed by the North Westside Communities Association’s Canada Day celebrations July 1.

“We hope to have live music and food,” said Carson.

“Hope to build Canada Day into a nice event for our community.”

Along with the bandstand and picnic shelter, the project will include a native plant garden.
