A wildfire near Sugar Lake is now under control.
The blaze, located near Kate Creek Forest Service Road, was discovered late Monday, June 12.
By late Tuesday, June 13, Kamloops Fire Centre said the fire is now under control.

ORIGINAL June 13:
A small wildfire east of Vernon is burning out of control.
The wildfire is located near Kate Creek forest service road about 3.7 kilometres northeast of Sugar Lake, near Monashee Provincial Park.
The fire was discovered around 9:15 p.m. Monday, June 12, and BC Wildfire Service crews went out to the location early Tuesday morning.
“We do currently have an initial attack crew on scene and a wildfire officer as well, who are actioning the fire,” said fire information officer Melanie Bibeau.
The wildfire is currently 0.4 hectares in size and is considered out of control as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Crews remain on scene, and their next steps are dependent on how much fire suppression is accomplished Tuesday.
“They will reassess for objectives into this evening and tomorrow,” Bibeau said.
