Wildfire north of Cherryville 10 hectares, new Mabel Lake blaze

The wildfire burning north of Sugar Lake is now 10 hectares.

The Star Creek blaze was discovered Thursday, July 6.

It is being held and suspected to be caused by humans, according to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).

A new wildfire is also burning north of Mabel Lake, called Garnet Ridge.

The blaze is an estimated .5 hectares and was discovered on Saturday evening. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It is nearby another wildfire in the vicinty which was also discovered Saturday but has been declared out.
