Vernon’s spring chipping program runs until the end of April.

The program is funded by residential yard recycling customers.

The schedule is:

Vernon and Foothills — Tuesday to Friday and April 10 to April 13

Okanagan Landing and Blue Jay — April 18 to April 21 and April 25 to April 28

“Missed piles not reported to city within 24 hours after the second week will not be picked up,” said Tanya L:aing Gahr, the city’s communications officer.

As the service provides only 10 minutes maximum chipping per customer each week, Vernon residents are reminded of the following:

No chipping April 14 (Good Friday)

Same day/location as garbage pickup

Do not pile with neighbour’s chipping

Do not tie with wire

No roots or dirt in pile

Pile thorns separately

No branches or tree trunks more than four inches in diameter

Stack all prunings with butt ends facing street or lane.
