The 15-year-old girl wanted in connection with a stabbing Sunday night in Polson Park was arrested Wednesday in the Salmon Arm area.
The girl was expected to make an appearance in Vernon Provincial Court Thursday to face charges of aggravated assault.
“We were able to follow up on some leads in our investigation and we were able to make an arrest,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.
Witnesses told police two girls were arguing in Polson Park Sunday at around 8:15 p.m. when one pulled a knife and stabbed the other, then fled on foot westbound from the park across Highway 97.
A 16-year-old girl suffered two stab wounds to the stomach and back, and lost quite a bit of blood.
She was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital, then transported to Kelowna General Hospital for emergency surgery.
She was listed in stable condition on Thursday.
RCMP have not yet been able to speak to the victim to find out what the dispute in the park was about.
