Pursuant to Section 40 of the Community Charter, the City of Vernon intends to close, and cancel the dedication as highway a 687.5 square meter portion of the laneway located between 32nd Avenue, 29th Street and 31st Avenue as per Plan EPP126964.
Closing the road is necessary to support the Greater Vernon Cultural Centre project and possible future development of the remaining lands. The City is responsible for the costs to process the road closure including surveys, advertising and legal. The closed road area will be consolidated with the adjacent lots as per Plan EPP126965.
The “Road Closure Bylaw Number 5999, 2024”, will be considered by Vernon Council at its Regular Open Meeting on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 1:30 pm, in Council Chambers at City Hall. Persons who consider they are affected by the bylaw will be provided an opportunity to make representations to Council at the meeting, or by delivering a written submission to the Corporate Officer at phearings@vernon.ca no later than 4:30 pm on Friday, August 30, 2024.
