Adrien Francois Chicoine

1919 – 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Adrien on September 22, 2013 in Armstrong, BC at the age of 94, born April 23, 1919 in Storthoaks, SK to Pierre and Marie Louise Chicoine.

He joined the Canadian Army in 1943 and served in northwest Europe with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons during WWII. After the war, he returned to Canada and settled in Vancouver, taking employment with Campbell Cartage Co. driving a truck. On April 27, 1948, Adrien married his wife Frieda Schmidt and started raising their family in Vancouver.

They moved to Cloverdale, BC and operated a farm and it was there that Adrien started his own trucking company before moving to Armstrong, BC in 1976. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #35.

Adrien is survived by his loving wife of 65 years: Frieda Chicoine; daughters: Rose Marie Featherstone (Jim), Annette Finley (George), Jean Wilson (Steve), Marilyn Chicoine (Ron); son: Wayne Chicoine (Tamara); 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grand children.

He is predeceased by his mother and father; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.

The family would like to thank the home health care workers and the North Okanagan Hospice Society that looked after Adrien in his final days.
