It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Cecil Hemming, on December 17, 2019 at the age of 74. Alan will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Marion, son Brian, granddaughter Samantha and great-grandson Austin, granddaughter Amber, grandson Cody, and Sister Anne (Doug) Bryden.
Alan was born and raised in Vernon. After graduating high school, he enrolled in Automotive Mechanics at Kelowna Vocational School, and for 10 years owned and operated Alan's Garage and Marina in Okanagan Landing. From there he took over management of his parent's tire business, and in 1981 became Transportation Supervisor for school District #22. Alan continued with the School District for 30 years, until his retirement in 2011.
Alan loved working on cars, boating, camping and most recently since his retirement, autocross car racing with his son Brian.
As requested by Alan, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life, for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
Should anyone desire, donations can be made in Alan's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Vernon Hospice House.
