November 25, 2018
Alan Hubbard, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and friend, in iron man fashion, left this mortal world for bigger and better races to where the streets have no name on Sunday morning the 25th of November 2018

Al was a school teacher and during his career he taught at Len Wood Elementary in Armstrong BC and in Vernon BC at Okanagan Landing Elementary, and later moved to Beairsto School teaching in the French immersion program. He connected personally with the children he taught, and influenced them with much more than just reading, writing and arithmetic. He would organize a mini triathlon with the great life lesson in mind "to always finish what you start."

He served in the auxiliary RCMP for a time and shared many great stories. He loved his community and served on boards for the Kokanee Swim Club when his children were involved with swimming for the team. He later started swimming with the Vernon Masters Swim Club. He became involved in the Kal Rats Triathlon Club and participated in many races and trained vigorously. He finished six Ironman Canada events.

He was a kind, generous and compassionate person who enjoyed just being with his family (even if it was whilst resting his eyes). He loved noodling around on his guitar, watching a good ol'spaghetti western and impersonating Clint Eastwood (Go ahead, make my day).

He made many friends along the way and tried to be a very good friend thinking of others even to his last breath. Although life threw some hard punches the last few years, he faced them head on with grace, a positive attitude and a determination that was inspiring to all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. His dry sense of humour that seemed to get more witty with each passing day, will be fondly remembered but probably not ever duplicated.

He is survived by his children Daryn (Camilla), Jenifer (Steven), Tamara (Darcy), Peter (Mandy), Christopher (Heather), Andrew (Ashley); Grandchildren Jared, (Alyssa), Janae (Joshua), Jianna, Joshua, Jamieson, Jarom, Kaitlyn (Stephen), Rachael, Lauren, Declan, Michael, Elijah, Sariah, Evangeline, Nathan, Jedidiah, Ezra, Edmund, Oliver, Frederick, Broden, Zachary, and his great granddaughter Minnie. Siblings William, Barbara, Francis and Robert (Denise).

He has been reunited with his loving wife and sweetheart Tessa, Mother Audrey, Father Archibald and sister Donna.

"Iron Al's" legacy to "Never Give Up" will stay in our hearts forever and inspire us all to "keep going, even when the going gets tough".

Swim strong, Cycle hard, Run fast. Until we meet again. We love you dad.

Services will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1506 35th St Vernon BC on December 1, 2018 with a viewing at 10 am and services commencing at 11 am in the chapel. Following the services there will be an internment at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery at 4303 Pleasant Valley Road Vernon BC with a reception at the church after the graveside.
