Al is survived by his two sisters Frances Dixon (Ontario) and Sophie Shaubel and her husband Gerry (Ontario); sister-in-law Shirley Paduch (Vernon); sister-in-law Pat Patlok and her husband Andy (Weirdale); brother-in-law Danny Panas and his wife Marlene (Prince Albert); sister-in-law Sharon Panas, David and family (Alberta); and sister-in-law Lois Laycraft (Paddockwood).

Al is predeceased by his parents John and Mary (nee Eskra) Sudol, his two brothers Joe and Frank, his parents-in-law Adolph and Caroline Panas and his life long friend and brother-in-law Edward Paduch.

Al was born September 9, 1927 in Austria. His family moved to Canada in 1931, settling near Paddockwood in northern Saskatchewan. After his father died in 1941, Albert took over the farming duties. He loved baseball and was scouted for the major leagues, but chose to stay on the farm to support his mother and siblings. Then Al married Sonya and they moved to Saskatoon to raise a family. Al worked for Potash America before moving to Canadian Liquid Air and finally, Wilson Automotive. Then he started his own business, Al’s Regulator and Torch Service. In 1975, the family moved to the warmer weather of Vernon. There, he worked for Vernon Machine until 1981 after which he again started up Al’s Regulator and Torch Service. Al finally retired in 2004.

Al belonged to St James Parish, the UCT, the Knights of Columbus 4949 (Vernon) and the Okanagan Landing Association. He was also a season ticket holder for the Vernon Vipers hockey team for 35 years. Dad would want us to say, “Go Vipers.”

Prayers were held on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at St James Church. The funeral mass is on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:00 am at St James Church. Donations in memory of Al can be made to St. James School, Vernon.
