May 16, 1931 - May 29, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce - our much loved husband, father, grandfather has passed on. Our condolence is - no more pain - so in life Albert was a man of great strength - but the body can only fight so long.
Born in Rafz, Switzerland, May 16,1931, Albert immigrated to Canada in 1952, did not stay in the east - as the west was calling.
Stopped in Alberta where he worked on wheat farm and dude ranch, also a pulp mill in the winter. There he heard of the large trees on the west coast, this Albert had to see - so off to British Columbia he ventured.
The old time fallers taught him the trade - BC is also where he met his wife in Spuzzum.
After years of steep slopes and heavy saws - Albert made the switch to cat operator - building logging roads with a D.9. A total of 16 years in forestry all over the province, the family moved to Falkland and operated a fishing resort for 34 years - retiring to Vernon in 2005.
Albert loved the outdoors hiking, snowmobiling and cross-country ski outings with family and friends. One of our quotes, "All good things come to an end nothing stays the same".
Albert is survived by his loving family wife Heidi, son Allan (Linda), daughters Rita Dreier and Debbie (Robert) Saunderson, grandchildren; Ryan, Emily & Alan Saunderson, Riley and Caleb Dreier and Kierra Bachi.
At Albert's request there will be no service - may he rest in peace - he will be in our hearts forever.
