April 2, 1931 - January 15, 2019
On January 15th we said "adieu" to Albert, dedicated and kind husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Individualistic, quietly strong, determined, and adventurous, he loved mountains and being

outside.

Born in Essen, Germany, Albert moved to Spiez, Switzerland to hone his craft as a watchmaker. He fell in love with the mountains and Sonja, who he married in October of 1957. In 1958 they emigrated to North Bay, Ontario and after 7 years, moved to San Bernardino, California. Albert refitted a VW bus and on weekends they explored the southwest. In 1972 he opened Albert Sirges Jewellers in Vernon. For 25 years, he worked as a master jeweller and watchmaker. Even after he retired, customers asked him to repair their treasured clocks, which he assembled on the dining room table. But he filled his days with the things he loved best: the view of the lake, hiking, skiing, sailing the "Santa Cruz," golf, bowling and travel.

Albert had a keen interest in current affairs, and a dry sense of humor. He was an accomplished painter of landscapes and flowers; a fan of Louis Armstrong and classical music; a builder of houses and a cabinet-maker.

He was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed every day by his wife and life-long companion, Sonja; his children, Brigitt Johnson (Drew), Glenn Sirges (Susan), Mark Sirges (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Ryan, Tommy, Alyssa, Chloe, Eben; his great grandchildren; his brother Siegfried Sirges (Marina); his nieces and nephews; and friends both local and around the world. A private celebration was held at Albert's request.

He is lacing up his hiking boots, headed to the peaks. Cremation arrangements have been made with Bethel Funeral Chapel Ltd.,E5605 27th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Z5. 250) 542-1187
