Albert Oscar Proudlove passed away peacefully with his daughter and son-in-law by his
side at 2:00 a.m. on June 20th, 2008 in his residence at the Vernon Gateby Care Facility at
the age of 86.
Albert was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Molly Louisa Simms; his two brothers, Art
and Harvey; his two sisters Viola and Alice; and his parents Amie and Oscar.
Albert is loved and remembered by his one remaining sister, Grace. Surviving Albert is: his
eldest son Barry and wife Linda Proudlove, grandchild, Naomi and husband Glenn McNair,
great grandchildren Erika and Troy; grandchild Nathan and wife Kathy Proudlove and
great grandchild Oscar.
Also surviving and sadly missing Albert is: second eldest son Niel and wife Elaine
and grandchild Matthew; and Albert’s daughter Teresa Proudlove, her husband, Steve
Jamieson and their son Charles.
Albert was born in Lacombe, Alberta, September 12th, 1921. He was a hard worker and
heroic war veteran of WWII. He was well known for playing his favorite – and one and
only song – on the organ or piano, “What a friend we have in Jesus”.
The family wishes to thank the tireless and often thankless work of the nurses and
caregivers at the Gatbey who gave so much to our dear papa. Truly, these caregivers are
our world’s unsung heroes.
A service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, June 27th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from the
chapel of Pleasant Vallley Funeral Home. A recption will follow in the Pleasant Valley Tea
Room. In lieu of fl owers, please give heart-felt thanks to a caregiver today.
