The family of Albert Breitkreutz announces his Home-going on August 29th, 2010 at 91 years of age. Albert is survived by his loving wife Ruth of Vernon and his six surviving children: Rudy (Rose) of Lavington, Otto of Edmonton, Ervin (Irma) of Lavington, Walter (Monica) of Edmonton, Anita (Harald) Kober of Coldstream, Ruben (Lee-Ann) of Vernon, and his daughter-in-law Gudrun of Saint Albert; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lydia (Arnold) Bobke of Barrhead; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Art in 2006; three brothers, Edmund, Rudolf and Gustav; and two sisters, Olga and Ella.
Albert was born on April 14th, 1919 in Germany and was trained there as a master cabinet-maker. In 1949 he married Ruth Fahl, and shortly afterwards immigrated to Canada, settling in Edmonton. The family lived at various times in Vernon and in Edmonton where Albert built quality homes and commercial buildings. He and Ruth returned to Vernon in 1998 where they have continued to reside since. His life-long faith in God sustained him through many trials.
Those wishing to pay their last respects to Albert may do so at the Church of God, 4312 – 25th Street, on Saturday, September 4th, 2010 from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. after which the Funeral Service will commence at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Albert to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan, PO Box 3619, Station Main, Guelph, Ontario N1H 9Z9.
The family thanks Dr. George Borchert and the staff at Heron Grove for the support and compassionate care they gave Dad in his final years.
