Alex Paul Kashuba
was born on June 10th, 1936 at Hazeldell, Saskatchewan and was called Home to be with his Lord and Saviour on December 27th, 2013 at the age of 77 years. He left us peacefully in the early hours of the morning while still asleep in his bed.
Alex will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gert, to whom he was married for 56 years; their five children, Keith (Christine), Cori (Randy) Novakowski, Rod (Michele), Shari Corbett and Gord, all of Vernon, B.C.; eleven grandchildren, Michael (Amanda), Steven (Anetha), Jonathan (Simone), Ryan, Tyler (Kristi), Daniel (Meghan), Devyn, Bobby, Zachary, Joshua and Alan; eleven great-grandchildren, Chad, Brett, Kaylie, Evan, Niya, Owen, Levi, Ruben, Jadyn, Lanie, and Emmett; two brothers, John Kashuba of Calgary, Alberta and Glen Kashuba of Langley, B.C.; three sisters, Stella Sophonow of Vernon, B.C., Diane Leslie of Nakusp, B.C. and Ann Sabatine of Port Coquitlam, B.C.; one brother-in-law, Rudy Beckman of Bella Coola, B.C.; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Metro and Pauline; two brothers, Sam and Mike; and one sister, Nettie.
The highlight of Dad’s day was a visit from a grandchild or great-grandchild. He participated in sports as a player, a Coach and as a fan. Dad loved to play cards and to sit around the table telling stories!
Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Alex’s Life which was held at First Baptist Church on Monday, December 30th, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Karl Janzen officiating. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Alex to the War Amps, 355-1627 Fort Street, Victoria, B.C. V8R 1H8.
