ALF ADELARD KNUDSLIEN
Alf passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2013, at The Gateby. He was born February 15, 1924 in Ryley, Alberta. After he finished school, Alf worked as a veterinary assistant, and at many other jobs, but was mainly a truckdriver.
Alf married Esther (Neuman) in 1955, having already built a home for them in Edmonton. Alf and Esther lived in many places, finally settling in Sirdar, BC where they purchased a hotel. In 1979, Alf and Esther moved to Vernon. Alf volunteered at many places, including Santas Anonymous where he specialized in repairing toys and rebuilding bicycles. Later, he volunteered at his grandaughter’s school in West Vernon, where he would take kids on field trips and other social activities. Alf’s greatest joy was leading his granddaughter Colleen down the aisle when she got married.
Alf and Esther enjoyed many holidays in their RV, going to the Island and along the ocean shores. Alf’s last enjoyable holiday was 8 years ago, to England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. He has resided in the Gateby for the last three years.
Alf is survived by Esther, Maureen, Colleen (Josh), brother Wilf (June), sister Violet (Bill) and many nieces, nephews, and many kids who called him grandpa. Alf was predeceased by his parents and brother Ingmar.
